Conservation-led advice for important historic buildings
Nuven Heritage is the specialist heritage practice within the Nuven Group, established to advise on listed, period, architecturally significant and historically complex buildings where enhanced reporting and inspection is needed.
We act for owners, custodians and purchasers of country houses, estate properties, ecclesiastical buildings and protected assets where decisions carry long-term architectural, financial and reputational consequences.
This is not high-volume surveying. It is considered a carefully monitored, analytical process rooted in conservation expertise.

A different order of building
By nature, historic and period buildings carry with them complexity and need specialist care and professional consideration.
They are often listed Grade I, II or II*, situated within protected landscapes or conservation areas, constructed using traditional methods and altered over centuries. Their behaviour cannot be assessed through modern assumptions. Their defects cannot be assumed by means of standardised outcomes.
Moisture movement, timber performance, structural settlement, historic alteration and inappropriate repair all demand careful evaluation. In these contexts, advice must be proportionate, evidence-led and technically defensible.
Nuven Heritage exists to provide precisely that.
Our approach
We allocate time deliberately. Inspection is thorough. Research is undertaken where necessary. Interpretation is measured.
Our work is centred on:
-
Detailed understanding of historic fabric and material performance.
-
Careful diagnosis rather than descriptive reporting.
-
Distinction between urgent risk, manageable defect and long-term stewardship.
-
Conservation philosophy aligned with practical use.
-
Clarity in the context of listing, consent and regulatory control.

Reports are comprehensive, precise and structured to support decision-making at the highest level. They are written for clients who require depth, not reassurance through generalities.

Leadership
Nuven Heritage is led by Jason Le Mare, Accredited RIBA Specialist Conservation Architect and Building Surveyor.
Jason’s professional background spans private architectural practice, ecclesiastical projects and senior building surveying responsibility across complex historic estates. His work has involved defect diagnosis, cyclical maintenance strategy, conservation-led repair programmes and risk reporting across nationally significant assets.
He is supported by James Forward, MCIAT Chartered Architectural Technologist, together with Nuven’s RICS surveyors and RICS-registered valuers. This integrated structure enables advice that reflects architectural sensitivity, surveying rigour and valuation awareness within a single professional framework.

Professional governance
Nuven Surveyors is regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Our heritage work operates within this regulated structure, providing assurance as to standards, ethics and accountability.
In the context of significant buildings, responsibility is fundamental. Advice must be capable of standing scrutiny from planners, conservation officers, trustees and future custodians alike.
Nuven Heritage
Where buildings carry history, architectural value and complexity, proportionate and informed judgement matters.
Nuven Heritage provides specialist conservation-led surveying and architectural advice for those responsible for the long-term stewardship of important buildings.
